James is passionate about supporting the creation and development of deeptech start-ups. Previously an Investment Manager for the University of Cambridge’s Seed Fund and before that an early employee at a software start-up, he is now starting out as an angel investor. He is also combining this angel investment work with complementary consultancy, mentoring and advisory roles. James has remained on the board of two University spin-outs, representing the University in a consultancy capacity.
From his time working at Cambridge Enterprise, James developed a deep understanding of the University spin-out process and developed a strong network of contacts at the University. He plans to expand his activities and networks to other university spin-out ecosystems.
James’s particular area of expertise is software spin-outs, but with an academic background in biology James will provide a level of insight into opportunities at the interface of software and biology.
